K-Plussa's rules

These rules define the services and other benefits Kesko’s customer programme offers to Plussa members.

K-Plussa rules as of 4 October 2023

1. Plussa customer programme

Plussa membership is a customer programme offered by Kesko Corporation to its customers. Plussa members are offered services and other benefits based on their purchase data.

The services based on purchase data may include, for example, weekly product recommendations. Benefits may include, for example, offers or Plussa points, which are granted based on the purchases the members make as consumers in the K Group stores and from the Kesko Corporation partners that participate in the Plussa customer programme.

The services included in the Plussa customer programme and operators that offer benefits are listed at plussa.fi.

The Plussa customer programme is operated by:

Kesko Corporation, Helsinki Business ID 0109862-8 PO. Box 1, FIN-00016 KESKO

Contact for K-Plussa customer service: plussa.fi/asiakaspalvelu

Any inquiries, suggestions and comments concerning the customer programme and the Plussa customer relationship should be submitted to Kesko Corporation (the Company). We reserve the right to amend these rules.

2. The Plussa customer relationship

2.1 Becoming a member

Any legally competent natural person permanently residing in Finland can apply to become a Plussa member at plussa.fi/liity. Membership applications may also be submitted through other channels available at any given time. Valid application methods are detailed at plussa.fi. Each Plussa membership is personal, and one person may only have one private individual's Plussa membership in force at a time.

When becoming a member, a person must provide the requested basic information and accept these rules. For information on the collection and use of customer data, see the end of this document, and the K-Plussa Data Protection Notice: kesko.fi/plussantietosuojaseloste

When a person joins Plussa via the plussa.fi website, a K-Tunnus ID is created for the e-mail address provided by the person upon joining, which can be used to log in to certain digital services operated by Kesko Corporation.

K-Tunnus Data Protection Notice: kesko.fi/ktunnustietosuojaseloste The link re-directs you to another service. K-Tunnus Terms and Conditions: plussa.fi/K-Tunnus-terms-of-use

A Plussa membership begins once Kesko Corporation has approved the application form filled out by the potential member. Kesko Corporation may also choose not to approve a membership, for example, in cases where the person has previously misused the benefits or services of the customer programme.

Corporate Plussa customers are not considered Plussa members as referred to in these K-Plussa rules .

2.2 Membership identifiers

Each Plussa member is given a personal Plussa identifier, which may comprise a set of characters or numbers readable by a payment terminal at checkout. The identifier may be linked to a physical item such as a separate Plussa card. The identifier may also be linked to various payment methods, such as mobile payment instruments or payment instruments offered by banks. If a Plussa member wishes to link their Plussa identifier to a payment method offered by a bank, the member must make a separate agreement regarding this with the financial institution offering the service.

If a Plussa member wishes to obtain a physical Plussa identifier, such as a plastic Plussa card, the member may be charged a fee based on the price list in force at the time of the request.

If a member wishes to delete their Plussa identifier or if they misplace their identifier, the member must either login at plussa.fi and delete the identifier, or contact the K-Plussa customer service and ask for their identifier to be deleted. If the member possesses a physical identifier, such as a plastic Plussa card, once the identifier has been deleted, the member must dispose of the card in an appropriate manner to ensure third parties cannot use the card. If the identifier is a Plussa facility linked to a payment card, detailed instructions on what to do can be found at plussa.fi. If purchases are made using a Plussa identifier that has been declared as deleted, the member will not receive any related benefits, such as Plussa points. This also applies to a Plussa identifier linked to e.g. a payment card or a payment method.

2.3 Member households

Plussa members living in the same household can form a Plussa household. The members themselves must inform the Company of this, for example, by logging in at plussa.fi. One member of a Plussa household is the primary member, and can make decisions on the right of other household members to utilise benefits accrued via the customer programme, such as Plussa money.

The members of a Plussa household can accrue benefits and earn rewards together. For example, the purchases made by members of the household can be added together, and the offers and other benefits provided to the members of the household will be determined based on their combined purchases.

A Plussa member may leave the Plussa household for which they are a member. Any minors linked to such a Plussa member will follow the Plussa member to a new Plussa household. The benefits and Plussa money accrued by such a member will remain with the household the Plussa member leaves. However, the Company has the right to decide, based on its practice in force at that time, what happens to the Plussa points and other benefits accrued by the member.

If the primary member of a Plussa household decides to leave the Plussa household, they must first relinquish their position as the primary member to another member of the household, who cannot be a minor.

The primary member of a Plussa household also has the right to remove other household members from the Plussa household. As a rule, the benefits accrued by the removed members will remain with the Plussa household from which the members have been removed.

2.4 Plussa members who are minors

Minors can only become Plussa members if a Plussa member who is of age and lives in the same household applies for a membership for the minor.

To continue their Plussa membership, persons who have become Plussa members as minors must apply for membership and accept these K-Plussa rules within two (2) months of becoming of age.

2.5 Membership levels

Plussa members may be classified based on the purchases made by the Plussa member or Plussa household. The classifications may concern membership levels such as "Basic" or "Best Customer". Up-to-date descriptions of the membership levels and benefits can be found at plussa.fi.

2.6 Managing your Plussa membership

A Plussa member can manage the data related to their membership and member identifiers by logging in at plussa.fi.

3. Services and other benefits for Plussa members

3.1 Services for Plussa members

Plussa members are offered various services, most of which are based on the Plussa member's personal purchase data collected at product level. The services offered to Plussa members vary, but may include, for example:

  • Services that offer visualisation of the member's purchase data
  • Services that make recommendations based on the purchase data and preferences communicated by the member
  • Different types of punch cards
  • Paperless receipt services

Kesko Corporation is constantly developing the services directed at Plussa members. Kesko Corporation reserves the right to make changes to the services directed at Plussa members at its discretion. A listing of the services available at any given time is available at plussa.fi.

3.2 Plussa points

Plussa members accrue points benefits based on their purchases. Plussa members receive one (1) Plussa point for every full euro that they spend in companies participating in the Plussa customer programme. Points are only accrued for purchases made by the Plussa member as a consumer.

In addition to Plussa points, Plussa members may earn reward points based on specific purchase limits. Members may also earn reward points through campaigns. An up-to-date list of the establishments granting reward points and the reward points table are available at plussa.fi.

Plussa members can check the number of points accrued by them by logging in at plussa.fi. If a Plussa member is a member of a Plussa household, all members of their household can see the total number of points accrued based on purchases made by the household members.

The above-mentioned points benefits are not accrued from tax-free purchases made by tourists or for the purchase of products or services excluded from point accrual by special agreement. Points benefits are not accrued from purchases made by corporate Plussa customers, as they are not deemed Plussa members as referred to in these K-Plussa rules.

The above-mentioned benefits are not accrued when purchasing a gift voucher. However, the recipient of the gift voucher may accrue points benefits when using the gift voucher to pay for products entitling to points.

The Company has the right to exclude products or product groups from points accrual, or set maximum limits for purchases that accrue points. Limitations in force are detailed at plussa.fi.

To accrue points, the member must present their Plussa identifier before paying for their purchases, and the purchases must be paid for in a manner approved by Kesko Corporation at any given time. Plussa points will not be granted after the fact. If a Plussa member returns a purchase for which Plussa points were granted, the relevant number of points will be deducted.

3.3 Using Plussa points

The Plussa points accrued by a Plussa member are tallied up every calendar month. The accrued points are converted into Plussa money. An up-to-date description of how Plussa money is accrued and valued is available at plussa.fi. Plussa money is a euro-denominated discount right that can be used as payment in a K Group store or service that participates in the Plussa customer programme.

In addition to the above main rule, other uses can be indicated for Plussa points, and an alternative delivery rate or method can be applied with the customer’s authorisation.

The Plussa money (discount right) derived from Plussa points is valid for 13 months from the last day of the month during which the discount right is granted.

Plussa members can check how much Plussa money they have and when the Plussa money expires, by logging in at plussa.fi or at a store payment terminal.

In Plussa households, Plussa money may only be used by members to whom the household's primary member has separately granted the right to use Plussa money. When using Plussa money, a person must always present a valid Plussa identifier and, if so requested, also prove their identity.

3.4 Other benefits for Plussa members

In addition to or in place of points benefits based on purchases made, a Plussa member may receive other benefits based on e.g. price, service, or shopping. An up-to-date description of the benefits and programme contents is available at plussa.fi.

4. Plussa customer data

The personal data of Plussa members are recorded in the Company's system, and managed and stored there confidentially.

Purchases made by a Plussa member using their Plussa identifier are registered at product level. A Plussa member may forbid the registration of purchase data at product level, in which case the purchases are registered at total sum level. Such members cannot utilise services or benefits that require product data.

A Plussa member may also forbid the registration of all purchase data. In such cases, no purchase-based points or other benefits can be granted to the Plussa member. However, customers who have forbidden the registration of all their purchase data can still utilise Plussa offers not based on purchase data and in force at any given time.

If a Plussa member forbids the registration of all purchase data, this will apply to both that member and any Plussa member of the same household who is a minor and linked to the Plussa member in question.

The Company may use personal data collected via the Plussa customer programme and disclose such data to firms participating in the Plussa customer programme for marketing purposes. A Plussa member can forbid the use and disclosure of their data for this purpose by notifying the Company of this.

The Company may disclose the contact details of a Plussa member as entered in the Plussa customer data file for the purpose of updating the personal data in a personal data file controlled by a company participating in the Plussa customer programme and intended for the management of the customer relationship between that company and the customer and/or for marketing purposes. A Plussa member may forbid such disclosure by notifying the Company of this.

5. Termination of a Plussa membership

5.1 Membership terminated by the member

A Plussa membership is terminated when the member informs the Company of the termination.

If a Plussa membership is terminated by the member, the member must use any discount rights (Plussa money) already granted to the member before giving notice. Once notice is given, the member’s Plussa identifier(s) will immediately be cancelled and can no longer be used to accrue benefits or to use Plussa money.

If a Plussa member who terminates their membership is a member of a Plussa household, the benefits and Plussa money accrued by that member will remain with the Plussa household.

If the Plussa member who terminates their membership is the primary member of a Plussa household, they must relinquish the position of a primary member to another member of the household before terminating their Plussa membership, by logging in at plussa.fi or by otherwise notifying the Company, for example, by contacting the K-Plussa customer service.

If the former Plussa member later wants to join the Plussa customer programme again, they must reapply for a membership.

5.2 Membership terminated by the Company

The Company has the right to terminate a Plussa membership without any separate action or notice if the purchases registered by the Plussa member using their Plussa identifier fall below one thousand (1,000) euros for twenty-four (24) successive months. This also applies to e.g. Plussa identifiers linked to a payment card or payment method.

If the Company deems with just cause that a Plussa member does not comply with rules or otherwise no longer meets the requirements established for granting a Plussa membership, the Company has the right to terminate the Plussa membership by informing the member of this. In such cases, the membership will be terminated one (1) month after the notice of termination.

If Kesko terminates a Plussa membership for reasons detailed above here in section 5.2, the Plussa member may use any Plussa money already granted to the member within a notice period of one (1) month.

If the former Plussa member later wants to join the Plussa customer programme again, they must reapply for a membership.

5.3 Membership terminated due to death

If a Plussa member dies having accrued Plussa points that have not yet been converted into Plussa money, such Plussa points will become null and void and no compensation will be paid on them.

If the deceased person was a member of a Plussa household, Plussa points accrued by the household from purchases made by the deceased member will remain with the Plussa household.

If the deceased member was the primary member of a Plussa household, the oldest household member who is not a minor will become the new primary member. If the deceased member is only survived by Plussa members who are minors, their membership and their right to use Plussa money and Plussa points will end.

5.4 Discontinuation of the Plussa customer programme

The Company has the right to discontinue the Plussa customer programme by informing the Plussa members of this at least three (3) months prior.

If the Company discontinues the Plussa customer programme, a Plussa member may use any discount rights (Plussa money) already granted to the member in the same manner as before, using their Plussa identifier. Any remaining discount rights granted to a member before the discontinuation of the Plussa customer programme would be valid for three (3) months after the discontinuation of the programme, unless their validity was to end earlier in accordance with section 3.3.

6. Other terms and conditions

A Plussa member must inform the Company of their postal address in Finland and any changes to the address without delay. The Company will send customer mail only in Finland.

The Company has the right to amend the rules of the Plussa customer programme by so informing the Plussa members. Any amendments to the rules will become effective no earlier than one (1) month from the date on which the Plussa members have been informed of the change. If a customer continues to use their Plussa identifier after the effective date of the amendment, the customer is deemed to have accepted the amended terms and conditions.

The Company is deemed to have duly notified the Plussa member in accordance with these rules when the Company has sent notification to the postal or e-mail address that the Plussa member has last provided to the Company. The Plussa member is deemed to have received the notification on the seventh day after the information has been sent at the latest.
